The backwash valve is separate from the filter - so there are standard connectors and standard connector spacing for backwash valves. There should be plenty of new filters available that will connect on to your existing backwash valve in place of your current filter with no changes to the plumbing. And the valves have unions on then so no need to cut, glue, or anything like that. It’s what poppajoe said, but maybe I can make it a bit more clear. This algaecide doesn’t work as well as some I’ve used but I think the issue is dosage instructions. The instructions on this bottle call for very small doses and I don’t think they are strong enough to do what’s needed. It seems to be the same ingredient as a better working algecide that calls for a much higher dose rate and works quite well. I’ll probably end up using this based on the dosage table on the other product.

The good type if such a thing is if calcium hypochlorite was used since its pH is 11.8 The other type is acidic and called trichlor with a pH of 2.8. This type will leach out the plasticizer in the vinyl and cause a problem later, possibly splitting and cracking in a localized area. If done on a plaster pool the trichlor can cause the plaster to bubble with overnight exposure! It is quite possible that you caught the puck before it could do any damage. You're welcome!!
